Relson (pronounced “Helson”) is the second eldest son of grandmaster Helio Gracie. He has been training Jiu-Jitsu since he was two years old and began competing at the age of 10. Relson was the Brazilian National Champion for 22 consecutive years and was undefeated during this period. He became quite popular and soon earned the nickname of “Campeao,” or “Champion.” In 1988, Relson moved to Hawaii bringing his art with him. Relson continues to teach Gracie Jiu-Jitsu all over the world and frequents Ohio for seminars, private lessons, and even hosts competitions. Now many years retired from competition, Relson’s philosophy reflects his father’s, which is to train for self-defense and personal advancement.
Mark Stefanac began his martial arts training studying Tae Kwon Do and Kenpo Karate. He began studying Gracie Jiu-Jitsu under GrandMaster Relson Gracie. Mark trains at least five days per week with heavy emphasis on cardiovascular workouts, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and Jiu-Jitsu. Mark competes in various grappling tournaments and has competed in mixed martial arts as well. In addition, Mark is a certified OPOTA (Ohio Peace Officers Training Asscociation) instructor for the state of Ohio and works with local police officers in self defense. He believes strongly in the school motto "For we wrestle not with flesh and blood…" (Ephesians 6:12) and strives for each of the students to excel and accomplish their goals.
Nick Goldizen is a Brown belt under GrandMaster Relson Gracie. He graduated with Honors from Executive Security International, the top school for protection professionals in the country, second only to the Secret Service. He is a Certified Protection Specialist. Nick is a Tier Four member of T.R.I.A.D., a martial art blending gun fighting, knife fighting and hand to hand combat. He is a Grapplers Quest light heavyweight brown belt gold medalist and has competed in and won many other graplling awards. Nick has competed in MMA, winning the NAAFS 2007 Welterweight Amateur MMA Championship. He is a proud father and family man. Nick teaches adults classes, kids classes, and is available for private lessons for any age or skill level.
Ron began studying Martial Arts over 30 years ago including living in Korea while serving in the United States Air Force where he earned his 1st Black Belt in Tang-Soo-Do. Over the years he earned another Black Belt in So Bak Do and Senior Belts in Kenpo Karate and Aikido. An avid Coach and Teacher, Ron coached Wrestling for 10 years (at the West End YMCA with legendary coach Rich Hunter), Baseball for 15 years and Football for 6 years. In 2005 Ron found Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and knew he found the art he would train for the rest of his life. Since then he has earned his Brown Belt under GrandMaster Relson Gracie and in 2014 took over ownership of the Academy.
Michael Cassesa, a Brown belt, began Jiu-jtsu training in 2007 at Relson Gracie Myrtle Beach, SC. He was the North Carolina State Champion in 2008. He came to Relson Gracie Cleveland in 2009. He has been a personal trainer and strength and conditioning trainer for the past 5 years. Michael is an instructor for kids classes, womens self-defense, Gracie Combatives and adult Jiu-jitsu.
